Maths in Industry & Technology (MIT) Challenge.

MIT Challenge

The MIT Challenge is a competition for teams of four year 11 or 12 students. An industry representative ("your client") will present a real world problem for your team ("the consultants") to establish a solution approach within 3 hours.

A representative from the top ranked teams will present their findings to a panel of judges from industry and academia followed by a short question period.

Apple Macintosh computers with MS-WORD and MATHEMATICA software will be available, although if you have a laptop feel free to bring it along. Printers, photocopy machines, overhead projector pens and transparencies will be provided.

Prizes and certificates will be awarded to the top 3 teams according to the quality of the proposed solution, presentation and response to the panel’s questions.

1st Prize: $800 per team

2nd Prize: $400 per team

3rd Prize: $200 per team

Official prizes and certificates will be presented at the winning teams’ school.
